Family & Children's Service of Ithaca has a 24 year regional reputation as the premier provider of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services to more than 65 area businesses. The EAP is a cost effective program contracted by participating area employers. Providing a variety of services for both the employer and employee, the EAP is designed to strengthen and preserve workplace quality, safety and productivity.
For the Employee
The EAP assists employees and their eligible family members by providing priority access to our clinical professionals for confidential assessment, short term counseling and/or referral to address issues and challenges that affect their ability to function, either at the workplace or at home.
Individuals receive EAP assistance for a variety of issues:
- Depression and Anxiety
- Family Issues
- Separation and Divorce
- Grief and Loss
- Job Stress
- Substance Abuse Concerns
- Eldercare Issues
- Parenting and Children's Concerns
For the Employer
Our staff is professional, well-trained, and experienced in offering support and solutions on a wide range of issues and concerns which are part of today's workplace.
- Education and Training: Quarterly newsletters, website articles, workshops, and skill-based training on a variety of workplace related topics are made available to contract employers. Our EAP Contract Manager can tailor training to fit the specific needs of an employer.
- Consultation Services: Our Contract Manager is available to assist an organization's supervisory, management or human resource personnel on a range of concerns which affect the workplace. Often, employers request consultations on such issues as drugs and alcohol, dealing with difficult employees or performance issues, or referring an employee for assistance.
- Critical Incident Stress Management: If needed, our team of clinical professionals trained in PTSD can provide a mental health response to a traumatic event that has affected the workplace. Through this service, employers can receive assistance when unexpected deaths, serious accidents, or other critical situations occur which create a difficult work environment for employees. Critical Incident Stress Management services include consultation, on-site availability for informal counseling and support, as well as debriefings and defusings.
- D.O.T. Substance Abuse Professional(SAP) Services:For employers operating under Federal D.O.T. regulations mandating employees found in violation of regulations, the EAP provides SAP services including assessment, referral, case management and follow up.
