Family & Children's Service of Ithaca is dedicated to providing affordable, professional services that support children, families, and organizations in finding solutions to the challenges of life today.

We rely on our donor's generous contributions to ensure that we are able to continue to provide our important services. Each year, hundreds of Tompkins County residents and other friends of Family and Children's Service show their concern for the children, adults and families in our community with mental health needs and for the ill and elderly who rely on our Senior Services Program.

Family & Children's Service of Ithaca is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization under IRS guidelines and all donations are fully tax deductible as allowable by law. A copy of our latest annual report may be obtained, upon request, from our office or from the office of the Attorney General, Charities Bureau, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271.

9 Easy Ways to Help Family & Children's Service

Make a Donation to the Annual Fund

Contributions to the Annual Fund go directly to operating expenses; these gifts enable the agency to serve all who turn to us regardless of means.  Family & Children's Service accepts contributions of cash, check, Master Card or Visa, stock, or securities. Gifts are unrestricted unless otherwise specified. Cash donations can be made by phone (607) 273-7494 or by mail.  If by mail, please print the donation form and mail to Family & Children's Service 204 N. Cayuga Street Ithaca NY 14850.  All gifts are greatly appreciated.

If you would like to make a gift to a specific program need or fund, simply let us know your preference.  Other F&CS funds are detailed below.

Support a Special Need or Fund

Family & Children's Service has five specific funds that help address crucial programmatic needs as well as the general operations of the agency, The James G. Johnston Fund for the Uninsured, The Helen Searle Fund for Senior Services, The Robert E. Hamlisch, MD Memorial Lectureship, Spero Family Fund for Child Psychiatry, and The Ruth Pettengill Society

Making a Gift as a Tribute to Others

Make a Donation in tribute or in honor of a special friend or family member, or to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion.  We will be delighted to notify the honoree of your consideration. 

Memorial gifts and honorariums are commemorated in our Annual Report.  Naming opportunities are available through gifts made to Family & Children’s Service’s Opening New Doors Capital Campaign.

Planned Giving

Family & Children's Service welcomes planned gifts and has a special society, The Ruth R. Pettengill Society that recognizes individuals who have remembered us in their estate plans. If you would like to include the agency in your will or in some other form of estate planning we would be happy to assist you. Wish List

Family & Children's Service gladly accepts in-kind donations of products or services. Please view our current wish list for items that we need.

Company Match Contributions

Often employers will match employee donations to charitable organizations. Please check with your Human Resources representative to see if your company will match your donations.

Donate Your Company's Services

F&CS can benefit from a donation of services such as graphic design, printing, mailing, etc. or by having a company or business underwrite the cost of an event, project, or publication. For more information, please call the Development Office at (607) 273-7494.

Volunteer

We welcome volunteers who have an interest in helping our agency with special events, clerical work, and other projects. Please call the Development Office at (607) 273-7494 if you are interested in donating some of your time and skills.
