Family & Children’s Services is here to help you with problems that seem overwhelming.
We specialize in providing high quality, confidential, affordable counseling services to adults, couples, and families in a welcoming and caring atmosphere. Our professional, dedicated staff includes masters and doctoral level clinicians and will together to help you with:
- Stress, depression, anxiety
- Stress disorders resulting from abuse, neglect or other traumatic life-experiences
- Grief and loss
- Conflict with a spouse or partner
- Work related issues
- Family related issues
- Separation and divorce

We are also proud to offer the following groups:
Grandparents Support Group (Click here for upcoming dates)Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca offers a supportive, educational support group for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. The service is offered FREE of charge. Child care can also be provided if requested in advance. Facilitated by a Family & Children’s Service therapist, the group addresses unique challenges, issues, and solutions for grandparents. The sessions do not require a mental health diagnosis for participation nor must participants be clients at the agency. Please register before attending by calling Family & Children’s Service at 273-7494. (Made possible through support from CFCU Community Credit Union)
Caregiver Support Group (Click here for upcoming dates)Caregiver Support Group offers a FREE educational and supportive group for caregivers helping an older adult family member. The group is facilitated by a Family & Children’s Service therapist and addresses issues faced by caregivers. There is no charge for this group and participants need not be existing clients of Family and Children’s Service in order to attend the group sessions.
Mood Management GroupF&CS offers a mood management group that incorporates yoga and mindfulness techniques. This group is facilitated by a Family & Children’s Service therapist and is offered periodically for current clients who are referred by their therapist.
Fees for serviceFees for service are reimbursable through Medicaid, Medicare, and private health insurance. This practice serves all patients regardless of inability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income. We do so through generous support from the United Way support and private individual and corporate donations.
Location and Hours of Operation
Family & Children’s Service is located at 127 West State Street in downtown Ithaca. We offer morning, afternoon, and evening hours Monday through Friday.
