Community Based Counseling

This collaboration with Tompkins Community Action was inaugurated two years ago at the Groton Childcare Center, where F&CS therapists began to meet privately with clients who were not able to travel regularly to Ithaca to meet with a counselor.

These clients come to Ithaca first to visit with billing and intake, and subsequent visits are in Groton.

Counselors are available onsite to meet with clients Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

In 2016, F&CS expanded the TCA partnership into the Head Start location in Dryden.

For one afternoon a week, an F&CS therapist can meet with clients who have gone through the intake process in Ithaca.

In exchange for use of the space, F&CS provides trainings for staff and informal coffee hours for families.

Building bridges to increase access to affordable services is the highest priority of F&CS expansion efforts, and we will continue to seek ways to connect people with services through developing and strengthening community networks and relationships.
